Few days back a member of the ENGGENIUS group happened to post a mail in which he said that electrical engineering is a redundant stream. The concerned part of the post is given below:
Electronics is way superior to redundant courses like electrical. At least there is scope for advancement in tronics. Fields like ULSI design and nano tech are very upcoming.However there is nothing new in electrical that can be done. you just learn what is already existing and get on with your life.
I got really pissed off reading such a mail and launched a direct attck on the guy with the following reply:
why do people think that electrical is a redundant stream? who said there is no development in this stream? are VLSI and nano tech the only fields left to explore? ONLY THE WEARER KNOWS WHERE THE SHOE PINCHES. have engineers heard about energy audit, power factor correction, power transmission, High Voltage engineering etc. if these are redundant areas then im sorry to say that mumbai will remain in darkness in a few years, with lack of better modes of efficient transmission. some of the major applications of electronics is in the core electrical field, and unless the basic funda of electrical machines, transmission etc. are clear no developments can be made. i think such statements like electrical being a redundant stream only shows the utter ignorance of the person making it.
How can someone say such things about a stream that is a mother to branches like comps, tronix, IT, instrumentation...I think three years of TRICAL life has shown its effect.
On second thoughts i might have been a bit rude, considering that the guy had no real idea about the electrical course. But i am not sorry for what happened.

Completely agree with u.. There lot in power electronics too.. i have heard that the latest thing will be where all inductors and capacitors in Chokes(and other drives) will be made by power electronics..
The guy who said that did know wht he was talking..

hey It seems that trical has gotten to this guy coz this guy was aiming to be a mechanical enginer so that he could pursue his aeronautical dreams
